The “ Adventure Sports ” block. The first part of the program “ Scotland Discovery ” (June 25 - July 9) is held at the Oatridge College Children's International Center, 14 miles from Edinburgh. Oatridge College is located amidst an incredibly beautiful Scottish landscape in the area of West Lothian. The huge campus area occupies 283 hectares. This is the most popular place in Scotland for children's active recreation camps – in addition to modern educational buildings, there are many sports grounds, football and volleyball fields, a center for water sports (canoeing, kayaking, sapsurfing), a climbing center, several indoor sports halls, a bicycle center.
Participants of the program will be able to try themselves in a variety of activities, including mountain hikes, rock climbing, rafting, kayaking and much more, to choose the participants of the program. Attention: all types of outdoor activities do not require special sports training and are held in small groups with professional instructors. At the same time, active pursuits are not professional in nature and are offered as entertainment.
Accommodation and meals. 2-bed cozy rooms with private facilities on the block. In the residence there are rest rooms and living rooms. On site there is a 24-hour security guard and a doctor on duty. Meal 3 times hot, with a wide selection of meat and fish dishes, salads, vegetables and fruits, desserts; vegetarian meals are available on request.
The “ Medieval Experience ” block. The second part of the program “ Scotland Discovery ” (9th &16th July) is held on the basis of a 700-year old castle, the ancient Abbey of Newbattle Abbey, 9 miles from the center of Edinburgh. In summer, Newbattle Abbey hosts a children's international language program for children aged 11-17. Despite the old architecture of the educational building, all classes are equipped with modern technology (interactive whiteboards and audio systems), and the rooms are decorated in a modern Scottish style. On a territory of 50 hectares – a magnificent forest park, well-groomed Scottish gardens, decorative glades, an underground chapel, an ancient living room, a computer room with Internet access, football and volleyball courts, a river embankment. The school has a safe, laundry, library, lounges.
English classes in Newbattle Abbey also cover Scottish history and culture. In the evening, exciting historical games, Scottish dance evenings, medieval costumes, ghosting, theme discos take place. The excursion program of the 3rd week of the camp includes the most ancient and original sights of Scotland!
Accommodation and meals. 2-3-bed rooms with private facilities on the block. All rooms are equipped with modern furniture and heating. The residence is maintained in perfect cleanliness, 24-hour security and a doctor on duty are on site. Guys are waiting for creative games and festivals, talent shows, dance master classes and Celtic dance shows, master classes in the most modern creative areas, theme discos, Celtic evenings in Edinburgh and tea party in London, flash mobs and city -quests on excursions, international discussion clubs, treasure hunts, performances of music groups in the school, surprises from leading groups and much more!
The 6-week program includes 6 half-day excursions and 3 excursions for the whole day. In England: London (Parliament House and Big Ben, Tower Bridge, London Eye, St. Paul's Cathedral, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, Madame Tussauds Museum, historical museums), Oxford, Chelmsford, Essex, Windsor Castle. In Scotland: Edinburgh (National Museum of Scotland, Grassmarket, Edinburgh Castle, Royal Mile), Castle Sterling, Lake Loch Lomond. All excursions are conducted in English by a professional guide – a native speaker accompanied by groups of school leaders and accompanying STB Tours.

Shift schedule:
English language course. The English language course in both centers includes 20 hours of classes per week in international groups up to 10-12 people. English classes are organized by an international network of language schools 50 with children's centers in England, Scotland, Ireland and Cyprus. On the first day of school, a test takes place, according to which the children are distributed according to the study groups. A transition to another group is possible if the participant in the program is too easy or difficult for his teacher. Classes are conducted by experienced British teachers with the highest qualification of teaching English as a foreign language. At the end of the program, each participant is issued an official British certificate of completion of a 3-week course.
Excursion program. The excursion program for Scotland is very busy: every week there are 2 full day excursions at the weekend and 2 half day excursions. From the excursions are offered: Edinburgh, Edinburgh Castle, Royal Mile, Holyrood, Stirling Castle, St. Andrews, the National Park and Loch Lomond Lake, the Highlands of Scotland. All excursions are conducted in English by a professional guide – a native speaker accompanied by groups of school leaders and accompanying STB Tours. Entrance tickets are not included. We recommend purchasing a package of entrance tickets “ Discovery ” (160 pounds), which will significantly save the cost of entrance tickets on the spot. &Nbsp;
Scotland – one of the most beautiful places in the world, full of secrets and impressions! We will see the ancient Scottish cities, abbeys, castles, picturesque lakes and hills. This fabulous land will introduce us to all of its iconic symbols – bagpipes, kilt, Scottish cage, weird food “ haggis &rdquo ;, lambs on the hills, unicorns, heathers and Loch Ness monster! And what's more important, teaching English in Scottish language schools – exceptionally high quality, because English is considered here as literary, pure, without jargons and simplifications.
Edinburgh – “ heart ” Scotland, a city with a stunning, original architecture. According to many travelers, Edinburgh – one of the most beautiful cities in the world, the medieval image of which has been perfectly preserved to the present day. There are practically no modern buildings here, and on narrow streets near the Royal Mile and Grassmarket you can still easily find Scots in folk kilt with bagpipes. Here once lived writers Walter Scott, Arthur Conan Doyle, Robert Burns, and it was here, in the famous cafe “ Elephant House ” Joan Rowling once wrote the first lines of the novel about Harry Potter. Благодарим за обратную связь и за уделенное время для обсуждения проблемных моментов по телефону.
По нашему опыту можем отметить, что отношение к телефонам в лагере у родителей бывает максимально противоположным. Иногда наличие/отсутствие телефонов даже является основным критерием при выборе лагеря: кому-то принципиально важно, чтобы ребенок всегда был в доступе, а кому-то наоборот, особенно, когда у ребенка отмечается так называемая «зависимость» от гаджетов.
В нашем лагере нет практики забирать телефон у детей во время смены, однако вожатые могут прибегнуть к этой мере, если наличие телефонов мешает проведению программы – перед заездом мы отвечали на этот вопрос.
В случае с Александром после того, как Вы связались с нами, мы забрали телефон на день, а после этого стали забирать во время основных мероприятий у всего младшего отряда, так как конкретно на этой смене это было обоснованно - дети действительно много отвлекались на телефон.
Территория ДОЛ «Золотая Долина» предполагает размещение коттеджного типа, поэтому все дети размещаются в домиках. В течение дня дети заняты на мероприятиях, в командной и групповой работе, поэтому часто что-то готовят командами в своих коттеджах. При этом у вожатых есть доступ ко всем коттеджам в любой момент; вожатые постоянно проверяют домики, в том числе обходят территорию после отбоя и в ночное время.
Супницы у деток стоят на столах, и они наливают себе суп самостоятельно, но мы обязательно ещё раз проговорим с командой, что на это нужно неоднократно обращать внимание детей.
Касательно английского: как мы с Вами обсудили, возможно, Александр воспринимал английский как что-то простое, потому что занятия были в игровой форме, а не в привычном формате уроков.
Сожалеем, что ситуация с телефонами стала основной проблемой, из-за которой испортилось общее впечатление о лагере. Если в дальнейшем Александр поедет на смену, мы будем уделять этому вопросу больше внимания.
